As a malady known as the Blight ravages the land of Valisthea and its realms plunge into war, Clive Rosfield, the firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria, sets out on a dark, dangerous journey to revenge following a tragedy.

In Final Fantasy XVI, set in the war-torn continent of Valisthea, a young knight named Renald serves as a bodyguard to Joshua, the son of the Archduke of Rosaria. When a deadly attack from the hostile Eikon forces leaves Joshua kidnapped and Renald's homeland in ruins, Renald embarks on a quest to rescue his charge and uncover the truth behind the conflict.

Along the way, he forms alliances with a diverse group of companions, each wielding unique abilities and burdened by their own tragic pasts. As Renald battles monstrous creatures and uncovers a dark conspiracy, he discovers his own latent powers as a Dominant, able to call upon powerful Eikons. With the fate of Valisthea hanging in the balance, Renald must navigate a complex web of politics, magic, and personal struggles to bring peace to the land.
