Stanley Cooper is an east coast transplant to Texas. His new marriage to Maureen is on the rocks as she pines after her deceased husband, J.R. Both approach a shady character to murder the other.

In a Texan setting, Stanley, a New Englander, grapples with a faltering marriage to Maureen, who remains fixated on her late husband, J.R. The couple separately seeks a dubious figure, Johnny Rocket, owner of the sinister Neon Cactus bar, to orchestrate each other's demise.

Tangled in a web of conflicting decisions, they retract their requests, only to realize Johnny operates beyond their control. As chaos unfolds, the trio becomes embroiled in a muddled concoction of murder, unanticipated affection, and dark humor. The tale weaves a compelling narrative in the genre of Crime Fiction, revealing the unpredictability of human desires and the unintended consequences they birth.

Report a mistake

Same rule as woke labels: one report, a written reason, and the community +1 or −1 it — once per member. A net +5 applies the change. Editors can also apply it immediately.

Woke labels

Members can file a published criterion and itemized evidence. Other members +1 or −1 that reason — once. If 10% of members who weighed in file a label, and a reason reaches net +5, that rank keeps the title omitted from the database. Weak labels do not.
