A teenage boy finds himself recruited as a member of an elite team of pilots by his father.
Set 15 years after a global disaster, Shinji is a teenager growing up in the heavily-fortified city of Tokyo-3.
He is recruited by his father to pilot a giant mecha called Evangelion, which he can use to combat enormous alien beasts known as Angels. Shinji soon realizes that Nerv, the organization responsible for building Evangelion, is full of secrets.
